S3B is partnering with Morse Micro to bring back Semi Down Under on 16th September 2026. Now in its seventh year, and S3B’s fourth year partnering, the event has become a fixture of Australia’s semiconductor calendar, a place where technologists, founders, researchers, students, and government and industry leaders come together to connect and shape the future of the sector.
Joining us this year is Dr Byron Villis, Co-Founder and CEO of Photon Foundry, a UTS spin-out working to make quantum technology manufacturable at scale. With twenty years in quantum hardware spanning a PhD at the University of Melbourne, research at UCL, CEA-Leti, and Microsoft Quantum, and a technical leadership role at ASX-listed Archer Materials, Byron brings a rare combination of deep research credentials and commercial drive. At Semi Down Under he’ll be sharing the story behind Photon Foundry, which he co-founded in 2025 with UTS professors Milos Toth and Igor Aharonovich to commercialise room-temperature single-photon emitters for quantum communications, sensing, and integrated photonics.
