National Semiconductor Roadmap

18th Mar 2026

S3B is excited to announce that we are developing Australia’s first National Semiconductor Roadmap, a 15-year strategic plan designed to establish a shared national direction for the semiconductor sector and broader ecosystem.

Semiconductors are foundational to the technologies Australians rely on every day. They power everything from medical technologies and communications systems to energy infrastructure, defence capability and advanced manufacturing. Yet despite their critical role, Australia currently lacks a coordinated national plan to guide long-term capability development or strengthen supply-chain resilience.

The National Semiconductor Roadmap will change that.

It will build on the strong foundation created through S3B’s engagement with the ecosystem over the past three years.  The insights, priorities and perspectives shared by members and partners will help inform the starting point for the Roadmap, ensuring the sector’s voice is reflected from the outset.

This is also an opportunity to continue shaping Australia’s semiconductor future. Participation from across industry, research, investment and key sectors will be essential to ensure the Roadmap reflects real capability, emerging opportunities and the ambitions of the broader ecosystem.

As Australia’s dedicated semiconductor industry hub, S3B is uniquely positioned to convene this process. The organisation’s role is to bring the ecosystem together, translate collective insight into coordinated action, and ensure the sector has a clear and credible national narrative to support investment, policy development and international engagement.

This Roadmap marks an important step forward for the sector and for Australia.

Further updates on engagement opportunities and how the ecosystem can contribute will be shared in the coming months.
